What are “dofollow” Blogs?

Just what is a “dofollow” blog? If you have been following our articles (“nofollow” explained), you now know that “dofollow” links are links that does not use the “nofollow” attribute. So what is the connection or relevance if we are talking about classification of links either “nofollow’ or “dofollow” with blogs? Does it mean that all links of a “dofollow” blog do not use the “nofollow” attribute? So sit back, read this article and we will explain briefly and answer all your questions about a “dofollow” blog.

What is a “dofollow” Blog?

First let us define the term “dofollow,” simply put it this way, “dofollow” links are regular links that will be followed by search engines particularly Google. “dofollow” links do not use the “nofollow” attribute, they are simple, normal and regular links that we use. Now when we say “dofollow” blog, it does not mean that all links placed in that blog are “dofollow”, the focus of links here is in the comments section of the blog. That’s right, the links in the comment section is going to tell us if a blog is a “dofollow” blog or not; if the links in the comment section, particularly where readers leave their links do not have the “nofollow” attribute (rel=”nofollow”) when you check the page source, then we have found ourselves a “dofollow” blog. By default, remember this, the comment section uses the “nofollow” attribute to all links placed in that section, unless the webmaster makes it a “dofollow.”

Acquiring a Quality Backlink is not Easy.

We mentioned before that backlinks are the major component in computing one’s PageRank. It is not easy to acquire a quality one way backlinks. With web directories, you have to fill up some forms before you submit, it takes time to be listed or it may cost you some money for faster listing. With article directories, you have to write a unique and useful article in order to utilize them and the review process is strict, rigid and also takes time. With forums, most of them require you to have a number of posts before your signature is enabled. For other webmasters to link to you, it takes a very unique, useful and important article to give them reason to use it as a reference. So in short, acquiring a quality backlink is not that easy.

What is the Importance of a “dofollow” Blog?

Now, if you find a “dofollow” blog, acquiring a backlink is much easier than the things mentioned above. Just write two or three useful relevant sentences with the article you just read and your done. As long as the comment does not look spammy, and if your website is acceptable by the webmaster, the chances of your comment being approved is most likely. And when it is approved, you have acquired yourself an instant backlink. This is the main reason why some people are looking for “dofollow” blogs. They believe that instead leaving comments on “nofollow” blogs, they would rather use there energy in looking for “dofollow” blogs and place their comments with them.

Are Backlinks from “dofollow” Blogs have Quality?

Remember, Google will not penalize your website if there are one way backlinks (inbound) coming from bad neighborhood. So don’t worry, if your enemies place your links in spammy sites, Google will not recognize them, your safe.  BUT if your website is linking (outbound) to spammy websites, that is another story, Google will penalize you or ban you. Google will say “what are you doing, why are you voting (linking to) for these spammy websites” and apply the corresponding penalty (lol). So if you find “dofollow” blogs, you are not sure the quality of link that you will get. If the blog is receiving 20 – 30 comments a day, it is very difficult for the webmaster to read the comments and check the websites that the links have placed. If the websmaster is carefully checking the websites’ link then we cannot question the quality of backlinks it provides. But if one comment was approved with a link pointing to a very bad and spammy website, do you think the other “dofollow” links will still have good quality, well probably not.

Is it Worth to Have a “dofollow” Blog?

If you have a “dofollow” blog, you will attract many readers, but trust me they will be more interested in your comment section. True, many people are looking for “dofollow” blogs, but they are not assured of getting a quality backlink. If you have a “dofollow” blog be prepared for the number of comments you will receive, you must not only read the quality of comments but you also have to check the destination of the links they placed and it will take a lot of your time. In our opinion we do not recommend having a “dofollow” blog, but it is still your judgment if you want to have one and can take the workload. The work of a blogger is to blog and write, checking the quality of links and reviewing websites are the work of web directories, give it to them.
